Karl Olson put his name on the ballot in St. Louis Park (46A) to give the voters a choice.
Karl moved to Minnesota and St. Louis Park in August, 2021, to live near his now-deceased parents at ParkShore. They studied, worked, met, married, and started their family in Minnesota in the 1950s, left to pursue opportunities, and ended up in the Washington, DC, area, where Karl grew up. After living in New York City, Karl joined the State Department and the Foreign Service and served as a U.S. diplomat for over 30 years, focusing on Latin America, including Iraq and Afghanistan, embedded with our military. He still speaks Spanish and Portuguese. His hobby is supporting elections, so that the voters decide.
Public Safety – Judicial Retention Elections
Karl strongly supports the League of Women Voters of Minnesota’s Position on an impartial Judiciary, to include Judicial Retention Elections, by which voters choose Yes or No for continued service, because the current system has zero accountability. For now, Karl plans to Write-In “None of the Above” rather than vote for an unopposed, incumbent judge.
“Many citizens are understandably upset at out-of-control judges who either overturn jury verdicts they didn’t like, or release violent criminals with long rap sheets, only to commit more violent crimes when they should be locked up.
“I want to channel citizens’ righteous anger into the peaceful voting booth and onto the ballot.”
Making Elections Meaningful – “None of the Above”
Too often, voters encounter only one name on the ballot, not just in North Korea, but in Minnesota. If elected, Karl will work in the Legislature to amend our election law, so that unopposed candidates run against “None of the Above.” If voters choose “None of the Above,” then the seat is declared vacant and the entire process must start over. [This would encourage candidates to recruit an opponent, just to give the voters a choice.] In the meantime, Karl encourages voters encountering an unopposed non-judicial candidate to just write in “None of the Above” rather than support a meaningless charade.
Fraud – Of course, the DFL knew
Of course, the DFL-led Minnesota Executive Department knew all about the fraud; its leadership are all competent professionals who know exactly what they are doing.
This election is every Minnesotan’s opportunity to render their own individual verdict on DFL performance running Minnesota into the ground, making our great state a national laughingstock at home and abroad.
If you’re pleased with how DFL has made Minnesota famous, you should vote for DFL incumbents and candidates for all Minnesota constitutional offices and State Legislators.
If not, this election is your chance to send a meaningful message that you are Not happy.
Transgender Issues
Karl believes that everyone should be treated with dignity and respect; that includes Women and Girls. If elected, he will work to define reasonable accommodations in such a way that attracts broad public support. Activists will need to set realistic priorities.
Judicial Reform
Minnesota and its Judiciary need to speed things up. The public is losing patience.
